Freedom of Religion brought our Amish populace from Switzerland and settled in our rural farming area. Most farms started with 20 to 40 acres. They hewed their houses and barns from native timber, farmed the land and made their lively hood from the grain raised.

Farming was done by horses and mules; their food source was raised and preserved in their own kitchen.  Most farms had what was called a “summer kitchen” where canning was done. Their Bible teaching is “the simple lifestyle”.
