The Mier Carriage and Buggy Company made many buggies and carriages, which were the elite transportation of the day. Most wealthy homes had a carriage house to keep both their carriage and horses. The carriage depicted in this mural was found, tattered and broken, in Washington, Pennsylvania. The metal tag on the back identified it from the Mier Carriage Company. After receiving a grant, the carriage was purchased and restored to its original state. It is currently on display at the Heritage Station Museum in Ligonier (800 Lincolnway South).
